The smtp4dev application was edsigned to be a simple SMTP server (aka null smtp server, dummy smtp server) useful for testing software that needs to send email. It does not deliver the messages but instead allows the messages to be quickly viewed or saved.
The software is useful for software developers and testers and works with most software that sends email via SMTP.
